Prevent that Dry Rot Root Canal!

 

Homeowners in the Oakland – San Francisco Bay Area deal with lots of moisture. And depending what micro-climate you’re in, it could be all year round. With this moisture comes lovely green hills and if your home is not protected – damaging Dry Rot.

Wood siding, Wood Trim, Wood Shingling and the inside wood framing of your home – all are vulnerable to dry rot. Constant exposure to moisture over time allows fungus to grow and decay the wood. With enough exposure, the wood eventually softens up and starts to lose its structural integrity and can literally be dug into as if it were a sponge.

The above picture shows an area that can be patched. Luckily, it was caught in time because it is under a staircase and the repair on it would have been a major expense.

Maintaining wood with a solid paint job is of utmost importance to extending its life and preventing more expensive repairs. It’s the difference between catching a cavity early or getting a root canal!

If you have Stucco – those cracks need to be repaired! Sealing areas where stucco meets the wood is a MUST DO.

The good news is that we can fix small areas of dry rot.

The above area is about 1 ½ inches x 3 ½ inches. This is the maximum area that can be repaired using our method. Please note: this is a short term, non-permanent, but less expensive way to fix this area.
